On the 16th of April, disaster strike. An 7.8 earthquake hit the province of Manabi, Ecuador. It took only 3 minutes but Canoa, the town our team visited in October / November 2015 for a 4 week spay/neuter campaign turned into a village of ruins. About 80% of all houses, restaurants, hostels got destroyed.
We acted quickly and joined the emergency response team aided by the military. We raised £969, and have used the donations to help the community with the painstaking task of rebuilding lives and homes. Before the Earthquake many of the street dogs in Canoa were surviving on scraps from the restaurants, this is no longer an option as the community so desperately need food.
Your money was used to pay for dog, cat and wildlife food and treatment. It saved so many lives, and has also helped feed and give shelter to the humans in most need. Your money went directly to the people and animals of Ecuador. The emergency response team have done an incredible job.
